Additional considerations come into play when operating a...

Which Airport to Pick in Singapore for Business Aviation Flights

Which Airport to Pick in Singapore for Business Aviation Flights

For business aircraft operators, airport options are attractive in Singapore, with full services available, but operating restrictions and aircraft parking availability may dictate choice of airfields. Singapore Changi (WSSS) requires airport slots and pushback for departure, and it can take time to travel from one point to another on this big airfield. On the other...

  Egypt
Thousands of Egyptians are continuing to protest against the verdicts in the trial of ex-President Hosni Mubarak. Two runners-up in the presidential election joined the demonstration in Cairo's Tahrir Square. Mubarak and his interior minister, Habib al-Adly, were sentenced to life in prison for not stopping the killing of protesters in last year's uprising. But six security chiefs were acquitted. Mubarak and his two sons were also cleared of separate corruption charges. Thousands of protesters are staying in Tahrir Square overnight, urging a renewal of the revolution that toppled Mubarak last year.

  Kenya
Kenya's main airport in Nairobi will reopen as soon as possible after an aircraft veered off the runway. There were no casualties, but flights were forced to divert, officials said Wednesday. "The airport will be opened as soon as the obstacle is removed and the go-ahead is given by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority," the Kenya Airports Authority said. Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta airport is the largest in the region and the key hub for international flights. Planes were diverted to neighboring Uganda and Tanzania, as well as to Kenya's port city of Mombasa.

  Israel
Hundreds of settlers demonstrated outside Israel's Supreme Court on Tuesday evening, on the eve of a crucial vote in the nearby parliament. MPs opposed to plans to raze a West Bank settlement outpost built on private Palestinian land are introducing a private member's bill seeking to sidestep a court order to demolish it by July 1. The court ruling has sparked huge opposition from the settlers and their political backers in parliament, who are sponsoring the bill to retroactively legalize the Ulpana outpost ahead of the deadline. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opposes the draft legislation, but some hardliners within his largely right-wing coalition support it. Media reports said that the bill is expected to fail after Netanyahu warned that he would fire any cabinet minister who voted in favor.

  Libya
Some air traffic has resumed at Tripoli airport after it was seized and shut down by a militia group. An Austrian Airlines flight and empty Qatar Airways plane reportedly took off from the airport on Tuesday. Airport and state officials had warned it would take at least 24 hours for operations to resume due to technical issues caused by the shutdown. The airport attack was carried out by al-Awfea brigade members. The group seized the airport to protest the detention of their leader by security forces. They pulled out late on Monday after negotiations with authorities.

A total of 149 security personnel have been pulled off the job at OSL Gardermoen with passengers urged to arrive several hours earlier in anticipation of long security lines.
